Privacy Policy
Effective: September 15, 2026
People write about grief, shame, anger and relationships here. We treat everything you write as sensitive, collect only what the Service needs, and never sell it. This policy explains exactly what happens to it.
1. Who we are
The Inner Awakening is operated by NixxTech Group, Inc., a Florida corporation with its address at 7901 4th St N, Suite # 36221, St. Petersburg, FL 33702, USA ("NixxTech", "we", "us"), the data controller for your personal data. For anything about your data, email support@the-inner-awakening.com, or write to us at that address.
2. What we collect
Account details. Your email address. If you sign in with Google, the name and email address Google shares with us.
What you write and choose in sessions. The emotions you pick and their intensity, what you write, where you notice a feeling in your body, the guide's responses, your choices, and the session summaries saved to your journal. The same applies to daily check-ins in The Thread, Your Pattern summaries, letter rituals and affirmations you save.
Patterns we derive. To create Your Pattern and help the guide remember what keeps coming up, we pull short themes out of your sessions and check-ins and store them with a numerical representation of the text (an "embedding") created by OpenAI. They stay inside your account and are deleted with it.
Crisis signals. If what you write in a daily check-in contains certain words linked to crisis, the app shows helplines and saves a yes/no flag with that entry.
Preferences. Your language, time zone (so notifications respect quiet hours), notification settings, and the device push subscription if you turn on notifications.
Billing. Your plan, subscription status and payment history. Card details go directly to Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
Reviews. If you choose to write one: your rating, your words and the display name you pick.
Founding Circle waitlist. Your email address, if you reserve a seat on this website.
Usage and technical data. Which screens of the app you open and events such as starting a session or changing plan, never including what you write, the emotions you choose or their intensity. Also standard server logs (IP address, browser, time of request) and error reports, used to keep the Service secure and working.
3. Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To run the Service you signed up for: your account, sessions, journal, check-ins and plan. Legal basis: performing our contract with you.
- To process what you write in sessions, check-ins and your journal. This can reveal information about your mental and emotional health, which the law treats as sensitive. We process it only with your explicit consent, which you give by ticking the consent box before your first session. We record when you gave it and which version of this policy you saw. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing support@the-inner-awakening.com. After you withdraw, we stop processing new session content and delete what you wrote within 30 days, unless you first ask us for a copy. Withdrawing does not affect processing that already happened.
- To take payments and keep billing records. Legal basis: our contract with you, and our legal obligations for tax and accounting.
- To send service emails and notifications (sign-in links, billing notices, reminders you turned on). Legal basis: our contract with you; reminders only if you enabled them.
- To send Founding Circle launch news to the address you gave us. Legal basis: your consent. You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link in any email or by emailing us.
- To understand how the app is used, keep it secure and fix errors. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a safe, working service.
You need to give us an email address to create an account, and what you enter in a session is needed to run that session. Everything else is optional.
We do not use your writing to train AI models, we do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising. We do not make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects based on automated processing.
4. How the AI guide handles your writing
The guide's responses are generated by OpenAI's models through their API. When you take part in a session, the parts of the session needed to write the next response are sent to OpenAI. OpenAI does not use data sent through its API to train its models, and keeps it for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring unless the law requires longer. We do not send OpenAI your email address or billing details.
5. Who else handles your data
We use service providers that process your data for us under data processing agreements, and only to provide their service:
- Supabase: database, sign-in and server functions
- OpenAI: generating the guide's responses and the pattern embeddings
- Resend: sending emails
- Vercel: hosting the website and app
- Sentry: error monitoring
- PostHog: counting how the app is used. We never send PostHog anything you write, the emotions you choose or their intensity.
Some companies handle part of your data under their own privacy policies: Stripe (payments, fraud prevention and its legal obligations), Google (only if you choose "Continue with Google"), and your browser or device maker's push service (only if you turn on notifications). We may also disclose data where the law requires it or to protect someone's safety.
6. International transfers
We are based in the United States, and our database is hosted there. Where our providers move EU or UK personal data to countries without an adequacy decision, they rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (and its UK extension) where they are certified, or on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us for a copy of the relevant safeguards.
7. How long we keep it
- Your account and everything you wrote, including derived patterns and check-in flags: for as long as your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete this data within 30 days.
- Billing records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, which can be up to seven years.
- Founding Circle waitlist emails: until 30 days after we send your checkout link, or sooner if you unsubscribe.
- Server logs and error reports: only as long as needed to investigate security problems and errors, and no longer than 90 days.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to:
- get a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- correct data that is wrong
- delete your data and your account
- receive your content in a portable format
- restrict some processing
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that already happened
Your right to object. Where we rely on our legitimate interests (understanding usage, keeping the Service secure and fixing errors), you can object at any time on grounds relating to your situation.
To use any of these rights, email support@the-inner-awakening.com from the address on your account. We reply within 30 days.
If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you can also complain to your data protection authority. In Poland that is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO).
9. Cookies and local storage
The app stores only what it needs to keep you signed in and remember preferences such as your language. We count app usage without storing anything on your device for that purpose. This website sets no advertising or analytics cookies; the only cookies are sign-in cookies used by our own editors.
10. Security
Connections to the Service are encrypted, and database access is restricted so each account can reach only its own data. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach is likely to put your data at risk, we notify the relevant authorities as the law requires and tell you without undue delay.
11. Age
The Service is only for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you believe someone under 18 is using it, tell us and we will delete their account.
12. Consumer health data (Washington and similar state laws)
Some of what you enter, such as the emotions you choose, their intensity, where you feel them in your body and what you write about them, may be "consumer health data" under laws such as Washington's My Health My Data Act.
- What we collect and why: the categories in section 2, only to provide the sessions, journal, check-ins and pattern summaries you use.
- Where it comes from: you, and summaries and embeddings our AI provider generates from what you write.
- Who we share it with: only the service providers that need it to run the Service (Supabase and OpenAI), under contract. We do not sell consumer health data and do not share it for advertising or analytics.
- Your rights: you can confirm whether we hold your consumer health data, get a list of every third party we have shared it with, withdraw consent, and have it deleted, by emailing support@the-inner-awakening.com. If we refuse a request, you can appeal by replying to our decision, and if the appeal is denied you can contact your state Attorney General.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
